Tomorrow (25th of January) we will have a seminar given by Prof. Mannes Poel, from Human Media Interaction (HMI) Group, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, Department of Computer Science, University of Twente. The seminar will take place at room 1.4.14, building C1, at 10:00 and the title will be “Research in Human Media Interaction”.

Summary: After introducing the University of Twente and the Research Centre CTIT Professor Mannes Poel will give an overview of their research in Human Media Interaction. At the end he will focus on the research in Brain Computer Interfaces and Touch.

Short bio: Professor Mannes Poel received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Utrecht in 1986. After that he was a NWO research fellow at MIT for one year after which he became a post-doc at the University of Groningen. In 1989 he was appointed as assistant professor at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Twente. After a journey through several computer science research fields such as formal verification techniques for concurrent programs, language technology and neural networks he found his niche in Applied Machine Learning. His current research topics involves a data driven approach to Human Behavior Detection & Understanding and Brain Computer Interfacing.
His teaching activities include, among other things, courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Brain Computer Interfacing.
