The recently graduated PhD Gonçalo Cosme, together with IBEB’s integrated members Diana Prata, Carlotta Cogoni, and Maciej Kosilo, have published their latest work, Intranasal oxytocin increases cooperation of heterosexual men with women, in Psychoneuroendocrinology.

In this study, the researchers found that intranasal oxytocin increased cooperation towards women in the Prisoner’s Dilemma by heterosexual men, even after betrayal and was mostly unaffected by the women’s degree of sexualization. These findings support the idea that oxytocin facilitates trust and prosocial behavior rewarding and extend them to the context of the other’s sexualization.
