IBEB’s researcher Daniela Godinho and PhD student Henrique Lopes attended the URSI Asia-Pacific Radio Science Conference (AP-RASC) 2025 during the week of August 17-22 in Sydney, Australia.

The researchers did several presentations and participated in several activities:

  • Daniela Godinho attended the Young Scientists (YS) Party, where she received an URSI AP-RASC 2025 Young Scientist Award
  • Daniela Godinho, together with Shouhei Kidera from the University of Electro-Communications, Japan, chaired the session “KB: Electromagnetic Biomedical Imaging”, organised by Puyan Mojabi, Raquel Conceição and Shouhei Kidera
  • Daniela Godinho presented two papers: “Preliminary Tests of Axillary Microwave Imaging with Healthy Volunteers“, which granted her the URSI AP-RASC 2025 Young Scientist Award, and “Low-Cost Methodology for Estimation of Breast Shape using Microwave Signals”
  • Henrique Lopes presented his paper “An Initial Study on Frequency and Matching Medium Suitable for Axillary Region Microwave Imaging

Both participated in the URSI Radio Science School for Young Scientists (SYS), which is a full-day school held on the Sunday preceding the conference at URSI flagship conferences, and met Flávio Jorge, president of URSI Portuguese Commission E, who was representing the URSI Portuguese Committee at the conference.
