In the context of the “3BAtwin” project, coordinated by professor Raquel Conceição, the University of Galway (GALWAY) is organising a “Summer School on Dielectric Properties Measurements” for FCiências.ID/CIÊNCIAS-ULISBOA researchers from 9th to 13th June 2025. Anyone from FCiências.ID/CIÊNCIAS-ULISBOA can attend online after filling in the following registration form:
Objectives of the summer school:
- Provide theoretical training on dielectric measurements of liquids, semisolids and solids, the standard procedures and the techniques and equipment used when measuring this type of properties;
- Provide theoretical training on measurement of biological tissues, mainly differences between measuring animal and human tissue, in-vivo and ex-vivo;
- Provide theoretical training on what metadata need to be reported and the confounders that may hamper the validity of the measurement results;
- Provide theoretical training on Tissue Mimicking Materials (TMMs), including the requirements and the different types, known materials and the process of fabrication.
3BAtwin is a European Union Twinning Project coordinated by FCiências.ID/CIÊNCIAS-ULISBOA which aims to capacitate them with the various specific/fine knowledge and tools which will allow to accelerate Medical Microwave Imaging (MMWI) from the research bench to the patient bedside.
The main objective of 3BAtwin is for FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS-ULISBOA to gain excellence capacity in all sub-fields related to MMWI research, and become strong competitors in translating their unique breast and axillary region device to the hospital, which will be possible by further establishing a solid collaboration with project partners: University of Galway (GALWAY) in Ireland, and Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) in Italy.
