IBEB’s researchers Daniela Godinho and Raquel Conceição and the PhD students Ana Catarina Pelicano and Maria Gonçalves attended the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden, in the week of March 31 to April 4.

The researchers did several presentations, chaired two convened sessions and participated in several activities:

  • Raquel Conceição delivered a presentation on “The role of COST Actions in International Cooperation” at the workshop “Electromagnetic Technologies for Life Sciences: challenges and opportunities in the EurAAP community“. This workshop was a starting point of the new European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP)’s Working Group “ELSA – Electromagnetic Technologies for Life Science Applications”, chaired by Lorenzo Crocco, Raquel Conceição and Jorge Tobón-Vasquez
  • Daniela Godinho and Raquel Conceição chaired the convened session “Biomedical Microwave Techniques and Devices: from Diagnosis to Treatment“, organised by Raquel Conceição and Jorge Tobón-Vasquez from Politecnico di Torino, Italy
  • Daniela Godinho, together with Iman Farhat from the University of Malta, chaired the convened session “Characterisation of biological tissues and tissue mimicking materials for electromagnetic medical applications“, organised by Daniela Godinho and Julian Bonello from the University of Malta
  • Ana Catarina Pelicano presented her paper “A Preliminary Study on the Impact of Model Complexity in Classification in Breast Microwave Imaging
  • Daniela Godinho presented her paper “Evaluation of a Medical Microwave Imaging Device for Breast Diagnosis – First Volunteer Study
  • Maria Gonçalves presented her paper “Preliminary Study of the Mechanical Properties of Biological Tissue During Microwave Hyperthermia

The four researchers had also the chance to meet several other researchers, including researchers from Politecnico di Torino, partners on the 3BAtwin project (coordinated by Raquel Conceição), and several researchers from portuguese institutions.
