A new paper of IBEB researchers in collaboration with other institutions was recently published!

In this study, photothermal therapy (PTT) using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as photothermal enhancers was evaluated for in vitro and in vivo efficacy against melanoma. Uncoated and mixture of hyaluronic and oleic acids, HAOA-AuNPs, demonstrated a high cellular internalization rate in B16F10 and A375 melanoma cell lines. The combined therapy of AuNPs (whether coated or not) and laser exhibited a pronounced reduction in viability compared to AuNPs or laser alone. These promising results suggest that combination of AuNPs and NIR-laser irradiation is safe and holds therapeutic potential in the treatment of superficial and localized melanoma.
