Next Thursday (15th of September) we will have a seminar given by our Alummni Nuno André Silva. The seminar will take place at IBEB’s seminars room at 14:00 and the title will be “Molecular Imaging using MR-PET: Methods”
Summary: The introduction of MR-PET instruments opens a new range of tools to study the in vivo human body, in particular the brain. These instruments take advantage of the high soft tissue contrast and functional data of MRI and the high specific data from PET. Furthermore, the molecular information of MRI
can be further explored. In this presentation, the methods used to increase sensitivity of MRI by using
endogenous and exogenous contrast agents are presented and discussed in the context of MR-PET.
Short bio: Nuno has obtained his Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics in 2012,
becoming one of the first students that graduated from this course at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. After finishing his studies in Portugal, he joined the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine, INM at the Forschungszentrum Jülich to work on his PhD related to molecular imaging using MR-PET.
