MÓNICA VIEIRA MARTINS
Monica Vieira Martins holds a degree in Physics Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Lisbon, Portugal. She developed her doctoral work at the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, under project for the development of a high-resolution, high sensibility scanner dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer, ClearPEM. She also participated in the development of a small animal PET device at the Institute of High Energy Physics of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. In both projects she developed software for 3D image reconstruction using statistical iterative algorithms. Currently she is a professor at the Polytechnic Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre and an invited researcher at IBEB. Her main research interests are related to the acquisition, reconstruction and processing of molecular medicine images.
