MATILDE PÓS-DE-MINA PATO
Matilde Pós-de-Mina Pato holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in September of 2010 and an MSc in Applied Mathematics from IST in March of 2003. She is Assistant Professor at the Chemical Engineering Departmental Area of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa of the Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa since March of 2000. She has taught for different courses in Chemical and Biological Engineering, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, Informatics and Computer Engineering and Communication Networks and Multimedia Engineering degrees. Also, she has co-supervised 2 undergraduate students, 6 Master students, all of them related in computer engineering, electronic and biomedical.
She currently is the leader of a multidisciplinary group that is developing a new integrated system for telemonitoring in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) disease. She collaborates with Raquel Conceição work in Techniques of Microwave Imaging for Breast Cancer Detection (IBEB) and, with Diana Prata work in developing tool to predict which individuals with At Risk Mental State (ARMS) will later develop psychosis using Machine Learning classification techniques (IMM).
Her main research interests, in last 5 years, are: development of Machine Learning classification techniques in magnetic resonance imaging, electromyography and neuroimaging, and application to the study of pathologies of the central nervous system.
As well as all these interests and achievements, books, music and sport have been a huge part of the researcher’s life. Especially with my daughter and boyfriend.
