ISABEL G. TRINDADE
Isabel Maria G. Trindade graduated in Technological Physics and earned a Master in Condensed Matter Physics from the College of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, in 1990 and 1992, respectively. After one-year research visitor scholarship at the Data Storage Systems Center (DSSC), Carnegie Mellon University, USA, in 1993 she proceeded there to a doctoral degree in the field of magnetic recording. She earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2000.
She was a research staff member of Seagate Technology – Pittsburgh (1999 – 2001) and a senior process engineer at a medium size company in England (2002-2003). She worked in patterned media for data storage at Spintec-CEA/Grenoble, France (2003 – 2004) and in magnetic thin films and devices at the Institute of Physics of Materials (IFIMUP), University of Porto (2005 – 2009). In 2009, she took a research position at University of Beira Interior, where she started a laboratory in the field of smart textiles. Since 2010 she developed entrepreneur interests. She attended a Master in Entrepreneurship and Business Start-UP in the School of Management and Economics (UBI) (2010 – 2011) and holds a certificate in Entrepreneurship of Technological Basis (2011). She is currently a research member of FibEnTech – UBI and of IBEB – FCUL. Her main interests concern Wearable Interactive Systems and Conformal Electronics, mainly for Medicine, Health-Care and Well-Being but also Entertainment, Architecture and Leisure.
She published more than 30 scientific articles in peer review journals and gave multiple communications in international conferences. She participated in several expositions and fairs and is inventor/ co-inventor of six US patents.
