ANA MARGARIDA MOTA
Ana Margarida Pires de Almeida Mota was born on September 4th 1987 in Castelo Branco. In 2005-2010 she graduated in Biomedical Engineering at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Since her master’s thesis in Mammography Positron Emission imaging, held at Instituto de Biofísica e Engenharia Biomédica (IBEB) (Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa), she felt an enormous interest in medical imaging, specially about imaging dedicated to the early cancer detection.
During a year, she dealt closely with Radiotherapy and Imaging equipments setting in Centro Académico de Medicina de Lisboa.
As research fellow, Margarida developed new methods to improve clinical value of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) images in IBEB. Between October 2015 and February 2016 she was involved in a European project, staying a few months in London – University College London Hospitals- where she contributed to studies with PET / MRI of the brain, a new hybrid technique.
Now Margarida is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics at FCUL and the subject of his PhD thesis is “Enhanced Digital Breast Tomosynthesis diagnostic using 3D visualization and Computer Assisted Diagnosis”. This work is being developed at IBEB with a partnership with a specialized research team of the Centre for Medical Image Computing – University College London (UCL-CMIC).
